At Ayer, Needham and JWT, she created campaigns that helped big companies talk to customers about life as it really is. She did a recipe campaign for Kraft using one ingredient. She showed Gillette executives how women really shave their legs. At JWT, she was vp/creative director and a member of a creative SWAT team that traveled Latin America. She grew fond of being unseasonably tan.
She was executive vp/executive creative director of Ketchum in San Francisco for nearly a decade. The agency won Acura, DHL, Southwestern Bell, Bank of America and new assignments from clients like Hunt Wesson and the Beef Council.
Olson was president of the San Francisco Ad Club and created the San Francisco Road Show, taking the work of 30 local agencies around the country and to the Far East. After having worked together for half their professional lives, Olson and Pearson launched Amazon.
