James Dondero
Managing Partner, President
Mr. James Dondero is the President and Founder of Highland Capital Management, L.P based in Dallas, TX.
Mr. James Dondero serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Highland Capital Financial Partners. Prior to his role at Highland Capital Management, James Dondero served as Chief Investment Officer of Protective Life’s GIC subsidiary from 1989 to 1993.
Mr. Dondero's portfolio management experience includes leveraged bank loans, high yield bonds, mortgage-backed securities, investment grade corporates, emerging markets, derivatives, preferred stocks and common stocks. From 1985 to 1989, Dondero managed approximately $1 billion in fixed income funds for American Express. Prior to American Express Mr. James Dondero completed the financial training program at Morgan Guarantee Trust Company.
Mr. James Dondero is a Beta Gamma Sigma graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. Mr. James Dondero is a Certified Public Account and a Certified Management Accountant and has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
