Int'l Fund for Horses Overview PROFILE

The Int'l Fund for Horses (IFH) is the most dynamic equine advocacy organization of its kind.

Incorporated in 2003 as a 501(c)(4) non-profit charity, its purpose is to influence the passage of equine protection legislation, effect the enforcement of existing laws, promote higher standards of stewardship through education, and act as industry watchdogs.

Headquartered in the United States in Houston, Texas, IFH has a broad-based constituency of citizen lobbyists in seven countries. IFH's political activities are carried out under the name of Fund for Horses in the United States, and the Int'l Fund for Horses outside the United States.

IFH also has a sister organization, Fund for Horses Charities. Established in 2004, FHC is a 501(c)(3) non profit charitable corporation whose mission is to provide support for equine rescue, rehabilitation, retraining and homes for displaced horses.

To further its mission, IFH works closely with a large network of rescues, sanctuaries, and rehabilitation and adoption facilities in the United States, Canada, Europe and the UK.

In addition to its head office in Houston, IFH has offices in New York City and Washington D.C.

Int'l Fund for Horses History The Int'l Fund for Horses began life in February 2003 with a grassroots group called Texans for Horses with a mission to end horse slaughter for human consumption in Texas.

IF4 expanded to include a network of horse protection advocates throughout the United States addressing additional equine welfare issues.

The group incorporated as The Fund for Horses in September 2003 as a 501(c)(4) non-profit charity. As the Fund for Horses grew to include members and volunteers outside the U.S. it renamed itself Int'l Fund for Horses in June 2004.

In 2005 it successfully branded itself as IFH.

IFH is headquartered in the U.S. in Houston, Texas with a staff of volunteers based in the U.S., Canada, Ireland and Great Britain and more than 4,000 active members worldwide.
