Mississippi's Forgotten is a group of first responders, made up of medical professionals, who voluntarily went to the Mississippi Gulf coast to render free medical aid and medications to the victims of Hurricane Katria While in Mississippi, Dr. Beth Gallup, founder worked to establish a site near Waveland Mississippi that would serve those victims who had an ongoing need for food and medical treatment. At the time of the request hundreds to thousands of Hancock county residents still had no roof over their head, food to eat, any prospects of employment and certainly no health insurance. The Hancock county board of alderman denied Mississippi's Forgotten request. Finally, after spending four months providing housing, clothing, and medical care, Mississipi Forgotten was forced to close its temporary headquarters in GulfPort. Missiippi's Forgotten has applied for and is awaiting its 501c3 status.
