Destination Club Forums, an online discussion forum for the destination club industry, is now open to the general public. The web site started as an exclusive invitation-only website for destination club members, however they recently began to allow non-destination club members to interact with members. This website offers the latest information on the emerging destination club industry and has a unique feature by providing a forum for members from every major destination club the ability to post messages and leave comments for others in a high-tech version of a community bulletin board.

Destination clubs represent a new trend in upscale travel for affluent families where members join a private club with a set membership fee and then pay annual dues that entitles them to enjoy the use of a collection of multi-million homes located all across the world. Typical membership fees range from $40,000 to over $1 million that translate into an average cost per night of more than $1,000 per night. While the cost per night may seem high compared to a luxury hotel, destination club properties have an average value of $2.5 million each and usually have four bedrooms or more that can easily accommodate families on vacation.

“I originally started Destination Club Forums as a small area on the Internet where I could post messages and discuss exotic luxury travel locations with other destination club members,” said William Scherer, the founder. “When I saw there was a genuine interest from other people that were considering joining a destination club, but wanted to get feedback from current members, rather than a salesman, I decided to open the forum to everyone. The interactivity and immediate feedback of the Internet is a natural resource for a discussion forum website.”

There are only 5,000 destination club members worldwide, but it is a rapidly expanding market that is dominated by a few clubs that include Exclusive Resorts, Ultimate Resort, Quintess, Private Escapes, and High Country Club. Members of destination clubs reads like a who’s who of celebrities and Forbes 400 members like Andre Agassi, Jack Nicklaus Steve Case, Tim Blixseth, Doc Rivers, Steve Young, Tom Lehman, Jim Furyk, and J. Joe Ricketts, but most clubs are tight-lipped when asked about famous members.

Destination Club Forums includes separate areas for current news on the destination club industry, question and answers between members, and separate forums for all the major destination clubs. Members can upload photos of their trips into a photo gallery and other members can even leave comments about other club properties. The web site even allows members to include YouTube videos and photos in their posts.
