The Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League (MAGDRL) has a large number of Great Danes in need of foster homes. Our state chapters from New York to South Carolina are bursting with Danes that have been abandoned or abused. They desperately need a temporary family to keep them warm and safe, and to help them learn to be the best dogs they can be.
Why not open your home and foster a Great Dane this holiday season? What better gift to give or receive than to help a homeless Dane find his new forever family? No present could be more special, no celebration more joyous than a Great Dane who has found a loving home.
What does it take, you ask? It takes a special kind of heart to be a foster parent to these homeless Gentle Giants; to teach manners, to help them learn to trust, and to be able to love again. It takes some time, some work, and it takes lots of laughter and tears. You will have the opportunity to give a little piece of your own heart to help heal the spirit of an abandoned Dane
For the time you spend with each Dane, you will give them something they may have never known before, which is the warmth of a loving home, and the knowledge that they are truly loved. And, as a foster parent, you can give them the chance to find their forever home with a family that will love and cherish them every day, for the rest of their life.
Great Danes – Great Dogs!
Great Danes know how to love on a large scale and make very loyal companions and family pets. They are “people dogs” who love nothing better than hanging out with their family on the couch, in the car, at the park, or for a short play session in the yard. Wherever their people are, and whatever activity they are involved in, is just fine with them! They are also extremely intelligent, often quite vocal, and sometimes entertaining to the point of being just plain goofy. In general, Danes are clean dogs who know how to thoroughly enjoy having a comfy chair they can call their own!
