The San Diego Community College District

The San Diego Community College District is the second largest community college district in California and the sixth largest in the nation, providing credit and non-credit instruction to students through its associate degree, certificate, and general programs. The District emphasizes excellence in every aspect of its operations, from teaching and counseling to service and clerical work to administration and planning. It is a dynamic, growing and financially strong institution.

The District is comprised of three community colleges: City College,
Mesa College, and Miramar College, with a combined enrollment of 120,000 students each year. The Continuing Education program serves another 99,000 students throughout the City of San Diego at its many educational centers and sites. The District also provides education to 58,000 service personnel at military bases across the nation.

The governing board of the San Diego Community College District is made up of five locally-elected members of the Board of Trustees who provide policy direction for the organization. The Chancellor serves as the District's chief executive officer and works with the college presidents and others in the daily operation of the District, colleges, centers and military programs.
