SCOPE OF POSITION
Provides system analysis, design, definition and specification of complex communications systems and product functionality. Determines the system design of various off-the-shelf wide area network (WAN) backhaul communication technologies needed to satisfy customer requirements. Determines system and product specifications, input/output interfaces and processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Simulation - The candidate will develop communication models suitable for RF systems development. He/she will also be responsible for performing system level simulations and presenting the results. Designing and testing wireless backhaul is key.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with Marketing, Management, and customers to understand wide area network (WAN) requirements needed to transfer data from substations to the data center.
Support Marketing and customers in the analysis of new system implementations with the primary goal of designing and analyzing proposed customer WAN solutions. This could include writing analysis/simulation programs or developing Excel spreadsheets for bandwidth analysis.
Support field installations using company's systems knowledge, WAN technology knowledge, and specialized analysis.
For new products, support the definition of operation, environmental requirements, performance, testing requirements and write the document that encapsulates these with the focus on WAN communications.
Provide system lead to a design team to implement an end-to-end upgrade to the current backhaul communication methodology.

Experience:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBSEE or BS in Computer Engineering, Advanced engineering degree is a plus.A minimum of ten years industrial experience in which analysis and design of complex systems was an important part of the job.Direct involvement in the design and/or deployment of several large wide area networks.Detailed knowledge of communication protocols and WAN technologies including but not limited to TCP/IP, Frame Relay, Satellite Communications, Cellular, Fiber Rings, and PON Must have extensive knowledge of backhaul of data over wireless IP networks: GPRS, 1xrtt, and/or CDMA. Requires experience with wireless providers, wireless equipment, and real world installation of wireless systems.Strong analytical skills with the ability to target analysis of complex systems.A minimum of five years experience in defining complex products working with the hardware, software and syst
