* Generate cost savings proposals from existing sources.
* Ensure electronically maintained date is current and accurate.
* Maintain and reduce pricing, analyze quantity breaks, monitor quality, and improve order fill rates.
* Develop a strong rapport and a spirit of business partnership with suppliers.
* Support and promote contract compliance for assigned commodities.
* Ensuring issues related to supplier fulfillment are managed proactively.
* Participate in sourcing initiatives upon assignment.
* Participate in supplier selection and performance evaluation efforts.
* Manages repair/reconditioning process for assigned commodities.
* Conducts research for alternative sources for materials when previously used sources are no longer available.
* Manages outsourced service contacts.
* Manages continuous improvement efforts with suppliers for assigned commodities.
* Interviews and confers with vendors to obtain product or service information.
* Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
* Participates in establishing performance criteria and specifications for parts and components.
* Arranges and participates in conferences between supplies and engineers, inspectors, and other company personnel to facilitate material inspection, substitution, standardization, and economical procurement of parts and equipment.

Experience:
* The successful candidate will possess 3-5 years of purchasing of materials or related experience.* Bachelors Degree, preferably in a business, technology or related discipline; or an additional four years of related experience.* Experience in an industrial manufacturing or distribution environment is a plus.* Exposure to small capital or equipment purchasing with a mechanical aptitude, a plus.* ISM or APICS certification a plus.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a positive customer service attitude are essential.
