S/he has worked in an art gallery and understands what a consignment is.
Selling is the key.
We provide the website, so people can view the art for sale.
We provide the webmaster to maintain and update the website as needed.
We provide the paid subscription to Artnet.com, a highly regarded website.
The top 1300 galleries in the world are on Artnet including the most prestigious ones in NY, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, etc.
We provide inventory. We have people wanting to sell and to consign to the gallery. This is important because the problem galleries have is finding good art at reasonable prices. Galleries are in the unenviable situation of struggling to procure inventory and then struggling to sell it. Half of the predicament is taken care of here.
We are about selling art by well established artists who painted from the 1500s to the 1950s.
The employee does NOT have physical access to the art.
S/he would have to say how s/he wants it shipped and how much insurance.
S/he would not be doing any packing or physical shipping.
S/he should be an aggressive sales person..
It would be best to have someone fully cognizant of the various sectors of the market: Interior designers. Corporate buyers. Hotels. Corporate lobbies. Offices. County-City-State-Federal agencies and branches of government. Museums-Historical societies-Libraries-Colleges- Foundations. Public spaces. Airports. Consulates & embassies. Individual buyers/collectors/speculators. Art funds.
