Fayetteville, AR, September 24, 2008 --(
PR.com)-- Winn Creek RV Park donates to Heifer International for Christmas. Pigs, chickens, geese, bees, cows or water buffalo, are among the items sent worldwide by the international organization headquartered in Arkansas. A portion of all RV and tent camping site fees between Oct. 1 and Dec. 28, 2009 will be designated to go to the charity. It is a "hand up" at Christmas to help others feel the worth of providing for their families.
The organization was chosen because of its methods of making a lasting difference in the lives of the world's poor. Impoverished people around the globe are provided a gift of a pair of goats, geese, or a flock of chickens, or livestock which will reproduce. The offspring provide for needy families and leave some to sell. One basic requirement is that a portion of the newborn livestock or poultry goes to help another poor family get a start. Owning something to reproduce and sell makes the difference between health and starvation for many and replaces despair with dignity.
A single woman, alone or with children, in many third world countries leads a life of misery. Having access to something to sell does not just change her quality of life but may make the difference between life and death for the woman or her children.
"We are a small business and we cannot change the world but we can help in this small way. We encourage other businesses in small towns across the country to do the same." The owners went on to say campers everywhere are familiar with the expression, "If you give a man a fish he eats for a day. If you teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime."
