The Charlie Daniels Band at Ridgefield Playhouse Gala

How about spending time with Darryl Strawberry and going to a Mets batting practice? Or perhaps, for the musically inclined, a signed Paul Simon guitar? Or a fiddle signed by Charlie Daniels the night you get to see him on stage. All of this, plus a great concert by the Charlie Daniels Band (“The South’s Gonna Do it,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp”, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”) not to mention amazing food and goodie bags will all be at The Ridgefield Playhouse’s 2008 Gala on Saturday, October 11. The food will be by Bernard’s, a full open bar all night long (irregardless of what level ticket) and, in addition to the live auction, a silent auction. The festivities, including the VIP Meet and Greet Reception with Mr. Daniels and Champagne Bar, courtesy of Cellar XV, start at 6:30 p.m. under the tent with The Christopher Robin Band performing to get you warmed up for the concert inside the Playhouse. I95 is the media sponsor and morning jock Lou Milano will be joining executive director Allison Stockel on the stage of the Playhouse do auction off some of these one of a kind auction items that no only include signed memorabilia but trips and hard to get Broadway show tickets as well.

Charlie Daniels won a Grammy Award for “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” in the country category, but it became a major crossover success on rock radio stations after its inclusion on “Urban Cowboy’s” soundtrack. Charlie Daniels doesn’t want us to label his music anything but CDB music—the type that is sung around the fire, the type that has appeal to all—why, it even helped elect a president.
