billybBEAUTY & Syd Curry Salon is Open for Business

Aberdeen, MS, November 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Celebrated makeup artist billy b and billybBEAUTY is pleased to announce the opening of their flagship store in conjunction with celebrity hairstylist Syd Curry and the Syd Curry Salon on January 6, 2009. This joint venture is located at 100 W Canal Street, steps away from historic downtown Aberdeen, Mississippi.

This charming turn-of-the-century, converted Victorian cottage will feature the full line of billybBEAUTY products as well as offering a full range of hair salon services from the Syd Curry Salon. The salon uses Zarran hair care products and will offer the full line of Nancy Elle Wellness Skin Care for purchase. This shared space will also feature many iconic images and media from the accomplished careers of both Billy and Syd.

Syd and Billy have collaborated professionally for the last 20 years, working together on some of the most high profile celebrities of our time. It was Syd and Billy that created the look for Mariah Carey’s “wedding of the Decade” to Tommy Mottola, as well as in her music videos “Dream Lover” and “Hero.” Today, they are both “Celebrity Stylemakers” on the popular website WeLoveBeauty.com.

Billy and Syd currently reside part-time in Aberdeen, Mississippi, where both are restoring homes on the National Register of Historic Places. When not in Aberdeen, they continue to work as freelance artists in New York City and Hollywood, California.

Since arriving in New York City in 1985 from Aberdeen, Mississippi, billy b has become one of the most successful and sought after makeup artists in the Fashion and Entertainment industries. Working and living in both New York City and Hollywood, California, his client list has grown to include some of the most beautiful and famous women in the world like Sharon Stone, Beyoncé, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lopez, The Dixie Chicks and Pink. Legendary makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin generously credited billy in his book “Making Faces” as one of the makeup artists who had “inspired” and “taught” him.

billy b's work can be seen on the covers of magazines such as Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, French, Marie Claire, Elle, Rolling Stone, Essence and GQ among many others. His work can also be seen on every Red Carpet including The Academy Awards, the Emmy's, the Golden Globes, Tony's and the Grammy's. Sharon Stone chose billy to work with her for Christian Dior's "Capture Totale" television commercial and print campaign. His work can also be seen in the Cover Girl commercial with Molly Sims for "Incrediful Lipcolor."

billy b has worked on some of the most awarded and memorable music videos ever made. The list of music videos billy has created the looks for include some of the most memorable images ever created on video including Missy Elliott's "The Rain" and "She's a Bitch," Pink's videos, "Stupid Girls," "U + Ur Hand," "Family Portrait," and Beyoncé's "Listen" video directed by Mathew Rolston. billy created the looks for all of Lauryn Hill's groundbreaking videos from her album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" including "Doo Wop (That Thing)" and "XFactor." billy wrote the concept for Mary J. Blige's video "No More Drama" (directed by Sanji) which won Mary J. best video at the MTV Music Video Awards. And billy was awarded "Best Makeup" from the MVPA's for his work with Missy Elliott for Janet Jackson's video "Son of a Gun" and was a nominee for his work with Pink for "Stupid Girls."

billy b is a regular keynote speaker at "The Makeup Show" in New York City, and billy’s work restoring homes in Aberdeen was featured (September 2006) on the cover of the Home and Garden section of the New York Times.

Syd’s family is from Pearl, Mississippi, but Syd grew up in Los Angeles, California, working in both the salon environment, and as a freelance hairstylist. His career has spanned 3 decades with clients including legendary women like Faye Dunaway, Debbie Harry, Madonna, Meg Ryan, Mariah Carey, Ashley Judd, Charlize Theron and Catherine Zeta-Jones to name a few. Syd has worked for every major magazine domestically and abroad including Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar and Cosmopolitan.

Syd’s work has been seen on every major Red Carpet including The Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, the Emmy’s, American Music Awards and the Grammy’s. Syd Created one of the most memorable hair images from the Academy Awards using white gardenias for Ashley Judd and more recently groomed Daniel Day Lewis for his Oscar win in 2008.

Syd can also be credited with creating the memorable “Black Bob” for the model featured in George Michael’s video “Father Figure.” He was the hairstylist of choice by Super Model Cindy Crawford during her reign as host of House of Style for MTV. Syd worked with Cindy establishing “The Cindy Look” and. His work with MTV and “House of Style” caught the eye of the White House and Syd was requested to work with President Bill Clinton on the legendary “Choose or Lose” campaign.
