Knoxville, TN, January 22, 2009 --(
PR.com)-- The State of Tennessee has set aside approximately four million dollars in grant money to encourage Tennessee businesses to incorporate green power/renewable energy technologies into their business strategies. Sustainable Future, LLC of Knoxville, Tennessee is a solar contractor that consults, supplies equipment, designs systems, and educates and guides clients through the governmental paperwork to “green” their companies and/or residences. Founder / President of Sustainable Future, LLC, David W. Bolt, is one of the few in the country who have engineered a net zero energy residential home. Sustainable Future, LLC prides itself on educating its clients and has recently created a business model to help companies evaluate if grant money and other incentives available, coupled with the energy generation, makes sound financial sense.
For several years, the federal government and the Tennessee Valley Authority have provided green power incentives to the public and businesses. Even with these incentives, the decision to incorporate power generation using renewable technologies has largely been based on a corporate environmental responsibility policy rather than a financial decision. With the grant money provided by the state of Tennessee, the scales tip from being an environmental consideration to include a financial component as well. Most corporations can now realize a return on their investment. The tools developed by Sustainable Future, LLC help businesses quickly evaluate the financial benefits of installing a green power generating system. Sustainable Future, LLC can also assist a company with the application process for the State of Tennessee grant money.
To maximize TVA incentives, solar systems up to 50 kilowatts may be installed. The state grant money becomes an additional bonus of 40% of the investment (less federal tax benefits) for up to $75,000.
For residential installations, there is a federal tax credit of 30%. In addition, TVA offers a $500 incentive for solar electric systems. Many local utilities have incentives as well, particularly through the TVA Generation partners program, where residential customers generating renewable energy can earn $0.15 per kilowatt hour for all green power produced. Contracts can be signed with TVA to sell power back to the grid for ten years at this rate.
For businesses, the federal incentives are the same, but are eligible for the added benefit of the Tennessee's Clean Energy Technology (TN-CET) grant, which can reduce the upfront cost of a renewable energy system by as much as 40%. In addition, where available businesses may also join the TVA Generation Partners program, and receive $0.15 per kilowatt hour (or even 20 cents per kilowatt hour for demand meter customers) for all green power that their system produces.
Sustainable Future is a locally-owned east Tennessee business with expertise in solar energy. Founder David Bolt uses both solar electric (photovoltaic) and solar thermal (solar hot water) technology in his own net zero energy home. With this firsthand experience, his company can guide clients through the process, beginning with a solar site evaluation to discuss the options and incentives available.
Sustainable Future, LLC can provide a complete evaluation and recommendations. “Generating renewable energy is just the tip of the iceberg for companies and homeowners trying to cut cost and use energy more responsibly. A tremendous amount of energy can be conserved simply by being aware of usage and completing a thorough review”, remarks Bolt. Sustainable Future, LLC provides a variety of services from consulting, energy usage evaluation, power generation system design, equipment retail sales and installation.
