Toledo, OH, January 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Heartland Information Services (www.heartlandis.com), headquartered in Toledo, OH, placed second out of 12 ranked outsourced transcription companies in a report released in December of 2008 by KLAS®, an independent healthcare research firm (www.KLASresearch.com). In their report, Top 20 Best in KLAS Awards: Software and Professional Services for 2008, Heartland moved up for the third year in a row in the professional services market segment for Outsourced Transcription.

As compared to 2006 and 2007 – where Heartland ranked 8th and 3rd respectively in the KLAS® report – this second place ranking shows a consistent improvement by Heartland, contributing to increased customer satisfaction and financial security in these tough economic times.

“Customer service is our top priority, and this ranking shows our continued improvement during the last year,” says Dennis Paulik, Executive VP of Sales and Business Development at Heartland. “Our success in customer satisfaction among other national transcription firms over the last three years is a direct result of implementing key processes like stricter quality definitions, tougher scoring methods, organizing our work pools by specialty, driving employee accountability and proactive quality management. We work regularly with KLAS® and our customers throughout the year to check up on our areas for improvement and will continue to work hard to deliver the quality and speed our customers require.”

Heartland is also in the process of adding speech recognition to its technology by partnering with M*Modal. In early 2009 Heartland will move to one integrated platform – its proprietary GEMSTARTM technology – further improving its already enhanced speed, accuracy and security of transcribed data. The addition of speech recognition and integration to one platform will allow for greater workflow capabilities, standardization of data management and tracking, and better controls for quality management, all of which will further enable Heartland to meet their customers’ needs.

This process includes collecting direct product evaluations completed by healthcare provider organizations, performing in-depth interviews with IT executives and directors to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of each business and performing an extensive internal audit to verify the accuracy of the information. For the 2008 Top 20 Best in KLAS Awards: Software and Professional Services report, over 4,500 hospitals and 2,500 clinics rated 750 products and services from over 200 vendors.
