NH Mom of Five Takes Aim, Sets New State Records

Maureen Jeanson, mother of 5 and author of Squeaky Gourmet, is a "strongman." “ Jeanson and her son competed along side 6 well seasoned strongman athletes in hopes to help establish records in Strongman events in their home state.

Rochester, NH, January 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- With so much statistical information a mere click or keystroke away, most women in the gym know by now that they should be strength training. Magazines have plenty of workout suggestions and offer advice on how to tone and lengthen as well as shape a woman's figure. Many gyms have special areas for women to exercise and lift weights in, supporting the effort of strength training for weight loss. However, some women are stepping back in time and taking their strength training back to the basics. Joining the men in the dark, sweaty corners of the gym are women who are not intimidated by the words "deadlift" or "bench press" and are, in fact, seeking to out-do some of the boys that lift weights alongside them. Maureen Jeanson, housewife and mother of five and also author of the new bestseller, Squeaky Gourmet, is one of these women.

“I’ve wanted to compete in this sport for a while now.” Jeanson says after setting her three new state records in New Hampshire’s Setting the Bar Straight Strongman competition. Jeanson and one of her two sons joined six other well-seasoned athletes with hopes of establishing new records in strongman events in the state.

“I love lifting heavy weights in the gym and I love being strong.” Jeanson adds. Not only is Jeanson a strongman competitor, she also helps men and women find their own way to fitness and weight loss with her inspirational website: www.yourfitnessjourney.com. The site is filled with free fitness resources and offers an active internet weight loss support group. Jeanson is also co-author to the new cookbook and wellness tool, Squeaky Gourmet, now available in stores nationwide.

Jeanson and her son plan to continue strength training and compete in more strongman tournaments. “I am not all muscled and scary, I am just strong.” says the 5’ 10” Jeanson. When not in the gym training, she is actively adding material and offering support to her website. She also works on new articles and podcasts to promote Squeaky Gourmet while trying to juggle all the typical duties other mothers or wives have to do as a stay at home mom.
