Canadian Motorcycle Show Impressario Bar Hodgson, 70, Survives Crash at Bonneville Salt Flats Attempting to Break Landspeed Record; Hodgson to Guest On Ride! Jan. 28
Toronto, Canada, January 27, 2009 --(
PR.com)-- The producer of the largest motorcycle consumer show in North America, Bar Hodgson, survived a 300 kph rollover at the Bonneville Salt Flats last August while trying to break a landspeed record. The feisty septuagenarian will guest on Ride! to talk about his dream of setting a world record and his experience at the legendary track.
The segment will air live on the popular motorcycle podcast at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Tune in to Ride! on the BlogTalkRadio Network at www.blogtalkradio.com/ride.
Hodgson had dreamed of breaking a 500-cc landspeed record at the salt flats and got his chance last summer during Speed Week. The original 339 kph record was set by Wilhelm Hurtz on a supercharged NSU. After more than 50 years, it remains the longest standing world record at the Bonneville track.
Hodgson was piloting a turbocharged streamliner built and owned by Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Famer Bob Williams. Williams is a six-year veteran of Bonneville Salt Flat runs. He is holder of the world landspeed record for 650-cc motorcycles.
Hodgson is a former national drag racing champion, and has been an active roadracer since 1975. He is also a racing promoter (Mosport International Raceway), motorcycle show producer, and publisher.
