Celebrated Author and Motorcycle Adventurer Ted Simon Revisits Jupiter’s Travels on BlogTalkRadio’s Ride!
Toronto, Canada, February 19, 2009 --(
PR.com)-- Ted Simon, who has inspired countless motorcyclists to strike out on their own around-the-world riding adventures with his best-selling books Jupiter’s Travels and Dreaming of Jupiter, will inspire many more when he revisits his exploits on Ride!
Simon will be in the Ride! virtual studio for a live podcast at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Tune in to Ride! on the BlogTalkRadio Network at www.blogtalkradio.com/ride.
Jupiter’s Travels chronicles his four-year journey during the 1970s on a Triumph Tiger. Simon travelled 78,000 miles through 45 countries on a soul-stirring adventure.
His book became a travel classic after it was published in 1979 and has been translated into several languages. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman cite Jupiter’s Travels as their inspiration for Long Way Round.
Twenty-five years later, at the age of 69, Simon felt compelled to retrace his original route and discover how he and the world he’d visited in the ’70s had changed. The result was Dreaming of Jupiter, published in 2007.
A 90-minute documentary, titled after Simon’s first book, was directed by German filmmaker Manfred Waffender. It follows Simon during his second RTW tour to England, Germany, Italy, Tunisia, Sudan, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The film was released in 2002.
Today, Ted Simon is still very active on two wheels. He lives in northern California.
