International Female Ride Day Founder Vicki Gray Profiled on BlogTalkRadio’s Ride!
Toronto, Canada, April 24, 2009 --(
PR.com)-- If you’re female and you own a motorcycle or scooter, be sure to mark May 1st on your calendar. That’s International Female Ride Day and it’s your day to get out there and celebrate the two-wheeled lifestyle.
The event, now in its third year, is the creation of Vicki Gray, motorcycle racer, riding instructor, coach, entrepreneur, and role model.
Gray will guest on Ride! for a live podcast at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 to talk about the event and her love of motorcycling. Tune in to Ride! on the BlogTalkRadio network at www.blogtalkradio.com/ride.
“There’s a real camaraderie among women and a real pride to participate in this one day event dedicated entirely to women riders,” she says. “The day has become a terrific incentive for women’s rider clubs and friends to get together and celebrate their common interest in the activity.”
When Gray started riding back in the early 1980s, women on motorcycles were a rarity. Now, they’re the fastest growing segment of the sport, representing up to 20 percent of the market.
Originally from London, Ontario, Gray discovered her passion for motorcycling when she was in her early 20s and looking for an outlet from her demanding career with Revlon International.
One summer she enrolled in a rider training course and that was the start of a life-long obsession. “I was always the one in class the instructors told to slow down,” she says laughing. She hasn’t looked back since.
