The Orange Planet Names Andy Woodley Director of Basketball & Player Development

Des Moines, IA, June 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Andy Woodley joins The Orange Planet team effective immediately.

Andy Woodley served as Creighton University's assistant basketball coach after leading Iowa City High to the 2008 basketball state title. He became the youngest coach in Iowa history to win the Class 4A title and compiled a 40-8 record in two years there. He also coached Iowa's Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year as well as two all-state selections. He previously coached two winning seasons at Sam Rayburn High School (2004-06) in Houston.

A three-year starter in the Northern Iowa basketball program from 1998-2002, Woodley ranked sixth nationally in steals per game as a junior. He graduated from UNI in 2002 with a degree in General Studies/Physical Education.

The Orange Planet, a premier Iowa athletic club focuses on hoops and health. The clubs owner, David Charleston has patiently sifted through many prospects over the past two years before connecting with Woodley. “The Orange Planet is establishing a reputation of teaching fundamental basketball while developing competitive players at levels. Woodley comes from a family of coaches. His dad is head football coach at Grand View College and former assistant coach at Iowa State. His brother Matt is a men’s basketball assistant at Washington State. Brother Brian coaches football at Johnston High School (Iowa) and another brother Joe is defensive coordinator for Grand View football.

Andy and his wife, Casee, have a son, Drew (7) and a daughter, Alyx (1).

The Orange Planet basketball program teaches and trains individuals and groups from first grade all the way to college age.
