Los Angeles, CA, July 29, 2009 --(
PR.com)-- "The Doberman Gang" has finally been collared for a re-make. 11eleven Entertainment and producer Darren Reagan have acquired the remake rights to the classic 70's film series. The project, which is not yet set up at a studio, will focus on updating the action-heist series.
The original films have developed a cult following since "The Doberman Gang" premiered in 1972. The success of the original film was followed by two sequels, "The Daring Dobermans" in 1973, followed by "The Amazing Dobermans", which starred the unlikely trio of Fred Astaire, Barbara Eden and Billy Barty. Films also spawned a 1980 television movie, "Alex and the Doberman Gang".
The original story focused on a pack of Dobermans trained to pull off the perfect crime - but the dogs become crime-fighting heroes when they turn the tables and thwart the thieves’ plan.
“We’re excited to bring back this action-packed series which has great potential as a feature franchise.” says Reagan. “I loved these films growing up and it’s time for them to find a new audience.”
