PR.com)-- The Bushikai Bugei Dojo, founded in 1989 by Michael McGee, has moved from its headquarters on Hamilton Avenue to a beautiful new 4800 square foot location in downtown Frederick. They have taken over the premises formerly occupied by Wickham’s Karate at 1209-H N. East Street.
This new location boasts wall to wall mirrors a suspended hardwood training floor and a 56 tatami mat safety floor. There are separate men’s and women’s locker rooms and showers, a rarity among martial arts schools. The facility also boasts a private lighted parking lot.
“The shower facilities and downtown location enable us to provide lunchtime classes for the professionals of Frederick. They can come in and train for an hour, catch a shower and get back to the office quickly,” says Harry Mackenzie, head instructor at the dojo. “It’s a great way to ease the daily stress.”
The Bushikai Bugei Dojo plans to expand its offerings of classes to include programs for children as young as three, as well as the number of classes offered per week. A parent’s waiting room complete with play area for the younger set will accommodate those wishing to stay and observe their children’s classes.
“I’m really excited about this new dojo,” says student Bill Kirk,42. “I’m looking forward to training here.”

Bushikai Martial Arts was founded in 1989 by Michael McGee. The school has provided instruction to the Frederick community, as well as members of the US Military, Local law enforcement, Dept. of Energy police, Baltimore Co.
