Chinese Drywall Certification Presented by USBCI in Orlando, Florida
Gainesville, FL, September 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Spiderman S. Mulholland, a leading forensic expert on building envelope, water intrusion, toxic mold, and Chinese Drywall of U S Building Consultants, Inc. and U S Building Laboratories, Inc., takes a stand on remediation.

USBCI and USBLI continue to do research and experiment with all kinds of methods for Chinese drywall remediation, however, after five months and hundreds of thousands of dollars, one thing remains unchanged - "You Have To Remove The Source Of The Problem." Making attempts to filter it, paint it, pump chemicals into it, hook up things to your air conditions to trap it, encapsulate it with coatings but when it’s all said and done - the owner still has Chinese or defective drywall in their home.

Homeowners, builders, and tradesmen in the construction industry have to be aware of remediation efforts that will help or harm clients across the U S that have found themselves in the biggest Environmental disaster in U S housing history. Convincing people to leave the drywall in their homes, in our opinion, is like trying to put lipstick on a pig; it’s a failed methodology when it comes to basic remediation efforts. If the stigma, life safety issues, long-term health effects, cross contamination, and resale of homes was not an issue, then some of these proposed solutions might be viable. However, the first priority should be to remove the source and restore the human health, life safety of the occupants along with the integrity of the structure. If a solution cannot achieve these basic elements, it should not even be considered as a viable solution moving forward.

Based on twenty five years in remediation, it has never been an acceptable practice to leave the source of the problem in the homes. Under standard remediation practices, if it’s mold, asbestos, meth labs toxins, toxic industrial elements, or defective products, it has to go. Anything short of removing the source opens up a lot of different complications that homeowners may find themselves up against the wall in living or selling their number one investment. It is believed in the future that the stigma of Chinese drywall is going to be so bad that resale will be drastically reduced eating up any cost savings by leaving the drywall in homes and using painting, spraying, fussing chemicals, or adding filters to the homes.

Anytime the source of the contamination is left in a home, you are just asking for trouble down the road. Public perception already has acknowledged that removal of the drywall is most likely going to be the best option when you carefully analyze all the dynamics of this situation. In our opinion, people are not looking for a Band-Aid solution when it comes to their number one investment; they want real solutions that are both economical and scientific sound. Defective Drywall in America work group, Building Envelope Science Institute and U S Building Consultants are releasing the certification for Chinese drywall in Orlando, Florida on October 25-27, 2009. This program will certify inspectors, consultants, and remediation contractors.
