Columbus, OH, September 29, 2006 --(PR.com)-- As the demands on working families continue to increase, so does the need for reliable childcare and simple assistance with household duties related to daily life. The idea for this business was born out of necessity for Colette Chamberland, founder of Dial a Sitter, who moved to Lewis Center in 2005 with her husband from Tampa, FL. In 2006 after having two children close together, working at home, and having no immediate family in the area, they turned to services such as Dial a Sitter in Tampa Florida for assistance. However, after relocating to Ohio, they found there were no such services available for them to use. As Colette explained, Dial a Sitter takes some of the difficulty out of finding someone to come into one’s home as an assistant or child care provider. The company will conduct employee background checks, and drug testing before Ms. Chamberland hires them. Her motto is that if she wouldn’t trust them with her children, she won’t trust them with yours. While the background checks do not show what someone might do in the future, it at least guarantees their past. Dial a Sitter also takes care of paying Social Security and income tax for its employees, an oft-neglected part of hired domestic help.

As more people become aware of these services in metro Columbus, hopes that this will inspire people to seek help when they need it, and manage their time rather than letting things fall through the cracks. “Childcare is a particular problem,” says Colette, adding that parents often struggle to find a good match for their families. “I am surprised at the number of people who need someone for just a few hours a week, or university faculty who have to travel and need a nanny for a few days,” explains Colette who found that the range of needs varied significantly in the Columbus Metro area alone.

This new business started in September 2006 and has generated a lot of interest in the Columbus Metro area.
