Tech Collective and Partners Now Accepting Applications for $7,000 in IT Scholarships

Five scholarships to promote IT industry; fund and develop RI workforce pipeline.

Providence, RI, December 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Tech Collective, Rhode Island’s IT and Bioscience Industry Association, today releases applications for its 2010 scholarship offerings. The 5 scholarships total $7,000 and are being funded individually by Lighthouse Computer Services, Fibertech Networks and the Doug Schwinn scholarship fund. The scholarships aim to raise awareness around the IT industry, particularly in Rhode Island, and to aid in funding and developing the IT workforce pipeline.

Lighthouse Computer Services / Tech Collective Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship established for 2 Rhode Island high school or post secondary students pursuing careers in the IT field. Students must demonstrate scholastic achievement, leadership potential and have an affiliation, either directly or through a parent, to the US Military. Read Guidelines and Download Application.

Fibertech Networks / Tech Collective Scholarship – $3,000 scholarship established for one female Rhode Island high school student planning to pursue a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other IT field. The student must provide evidence of interest and participation in IT initiatives throughout high school. Read Guidelines and Download Application.

Doug Schwinn / Tech Collective Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship established for 2 female or minority high school students pursuing a degree in Information Technology. Students must demonstrate commitment, dedication, strong academic record, leadership and a determination to gain a higher education. Read Guidelines and Download Application

Recipients of any scholarship must be a legal Rhode Island resident and attend a Rhode Island college or university. Lighthouse Computer Systems, Fibertech Networks and the Doug Schwinn scholarship fund will finance the scholarships. Tech Collective will administer them.
