Technology Veteran Joins Dexrex Gear Board of Advisors
Newton, MA, December 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Dexrex Gear, a leading information technology platform provider of business data management services for instant message (IM) networks and mobile text (SMS) messages, announced today that technology veteran Kevin B. Harris has joined its Board of Advisors to help provide insight and guidance as Dexrex Gear delivers to the market its first enterprise-focused data management product, ChatSync.

The Dexrex Gear Advisory Board was established to provide the company with strategic guidance and direction as it continues its rapid expansion into the enterprise technology marketplace.

“The addition of a technology mainstay like Kevin Harris to our Board of Advisors will give Dexrex Gear yet another resource to ensure we sustain the growth we set out upon earlier this year with the release of Dexrex Gear ChatSync,” said Barrett Bilotta, Dexrex Gear COO. “Kevin has played an active role in every aspect of the high-tech industry and his vast experience in network and data management – two core elements of Dexrex Gear’s platform – will be an asset to the company going forward. We’re excited he’s joining us and look forward to his insight.”

Harris co-founded AmeriVault in 1998, a company that pioneered hosted online data protection services for businesses, including online data backup, email archiving, disaster recovery and data lifecycle solutions. In his role as CIO, Harris created and directed all technical operations and service delivery for the company as well as provided executive leadership for the entire organization. AmeriVault was recently acquired by PHNS.

Before founding AmeriVault, Harris oversaw network operations for the New England Controls Division of Johnson Controls, a multi-billion dollar corporation with worldwide leadership in automotive systems and building controls. Prior to that, Harris was a network systems engineer with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, one of the northeast’s largest healthcare providers and a major teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, with a major in Management Information Systems, Harris is currently President and Owner of KBH & Co., a technology and leadership consulting company that provides a host of services including networking, security, strategy, information management, storage, phone systems and VoIP.

In his spare time, Harris is a long-time supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts, Buddy Dog Humane Society and other local animal shelters and rescue groups. He’s also a veteran rider in the Pan-Mass Challenge.

“I am both honored and excited to join Dexrex Gear’s Board of Advisors,” Harris said. “Dexrex Gear has proven itself to be a startup to watch. My background in this industry will help Dexrex Gear continue to grow and innovate as it continues to capture mindshare in the data management and compliance markets.”

Dexrex Gear recently released ChatSync, a Web-based data management solution for the secure and seamless capture and active archiving of a business’s real-time messaging transmitted from a host of consumer IM and social media services as well as enterprise collaboration platforms. Essentially, ChatSync captures and offloads text-based messages via an IM client plug-in or proxy deployment into a secure and centralized storage platform within the cloud where it is normalized and archived in a structured database to ensure fast and efficient search and retrieval for compliance, e-discovery and adherence to storage best practices.

Dexrex Gear ChatSync captures data from a host of consumer IM services, mobile messaging tools and social media sites, along with enterprise collaboration and unified communications platforms. Dexrex Gear’s multi-tenant architecture allows resellers to set up their own customized and branded solution on Dexrex Gear’s managed platform directly though Dexrex Gear’s data centers. On-premise installations are also available if preferred.

Dexrex Gear ChatSync is available now from Dexrex Gear resellers.
