Flexfit Announces Successful 2009 Sponsorship of Mauli Ola Foundation’s Surf Experience Days to Benefit Kids with Cystic Fibrosis
Fullerton, CA, January 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- As title sponsor for Mauli Ola Foundation’s 2009 Surf Experience Days, Flexfit headwear was able to do their part to help raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. Flexfit’s sponsorship contribution was also instrumental in helping to provide young people living with CF with the natural health benefits associated with exposure to the saline properties found in ocean air.

Mauli Ola Foundation Surf Experience Days have served to spread awareness and education about Cystic Fibrosis, and have given young people with CF enjoyment and confidence from learning how to surf. Most importantly, MOF Surf Experience Days expose kids with Cystic Fibrosis to the beach atmosphere and ocean air, which is known to provide enormous physically therapeutic health benefits, significantly easing the symptoms of their disease.

According to Mauli Ola Foundation’s continuous observations, as well as research conducted by MOF sponsor, Ambry Genetics, “Surf Experience Days were created to get kids who have Cystic Fibrosis out into the ocean water (which is high in saline), and experience what natural therapies can do for their lungs. The saline in the air and water breaks down the congestion that is in their lungs. This congestion is what causes them to go to hospitals constantly, and leads them to have to take medication on a daily basis. With salt water treatments their hospital visits are cut in half, leading to a healthier and more fulfilling life.”

It was this information that prompted Flexfit to become a title sponsor for MOF Surf Experience Days throughout 2009. The positive results that were witnessed by Flexfit have been encouraging, and for this reason Flexfit intends to continue their involvement with Mauli Ola Foundation’s Surf Experience Days in 2010, as a national sponsor. According to Flexfit President, Thomas Cho, “We believe in results, and we have witnessed firsthand the positive effect MOF Surf Experience Days have had on these young people with Cystic Fibrosis and on their families. For this reason, Flexfit is excited to be a sponsor for this important program in 2010.”

Mauli Ola Foundation’s efforts throughout 2009 resulted in media coverage which included: Fuel TV, Surfline.com, and Surfer Magazine to name a few media outlets. Internationally renowned pro-surfer Kelly Slater made an appearance on the final leg of the 2009 MOF Surf Experience Day tour, donning a Flexfit MOF hat at the Haleiwa, Hawaii surf event. Kelly Slater also came on board as a member of Mauli Ola Foundation in 2009 and pledged his ongoing involvement for 2010.

Mauli Ola Foundation plans to expand their west coast based Surf Experience Day tour in 2010 to include beaches throughout the United States. According to Mauli Ola Foundation President, James Dunlop, “Mauli Ola plans to expand our west coast Surf Experience Days to include Ventura, CA; San Clemente, CA; and San Onofre State Beach in northern San Diego, CA.” In addition to west coast Surf Experience Days, the 2010 tour will also take place at various beach locations in Florida, New York and in the Carolinas. The Mauli Ola team will be traveling by RV from beach to beach across the United States for their 2010 Surf Experience Day tour to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis on a national level.

Pro-surfers who lent their time in 2009 to provide surfing instruction included: Gavin Beschen, Shawn “Barney” Barron, Jeff Booth, Kala Alexander, Steven Chew and Andrew Doheny. Other sponsors throughout the 2009 tour included: Laguna Beach Surf School, Buttons Surf School, Slidawg Surf Camp, A-Med Healthcare, Stanford University CF Center, Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital and Richard Schmidt Surf School.
