Sunnyvale, CA, February 04, 2010 --(
PR.com)-- MOSBIRT is a substance abuse prevention project that will screen up to 200,000 Missourians in various medical settings for risky substance use behaviors. The organization has developed a computer application to guide health coaches in emergency departments and family medicine clinics in Springfield, Columbia, and St. Louis, Missouri. This is all done on tablet computers synchronized to a central database.
“Because of the sensitive nature of the data, the hard drives are fully encrypted with TrueCrypt. Our coaches must use their YubiKey with a static password and an additional string to unlock the computers to allow the OS to boot,” says Matthew G. Hile, Research Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Missouri Institute of Mental Health. “We expect to serve at least 80,000 Missourians with this system in the next few years.”
