The WSOP Academy Presents Professional Poker Player, Author, Poker Instructor & former Celebrity Apprentice Contestant, Annie Duke as she will host three-days of in-depth and hands on poker instruction.

Las Vegas, NV, April 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The World Series of Poker Academy, poker’s premier series of instructional schools where participants learn first-hand from the world’s greatest poker players, announced details for its first-ever appearance by poker icon Annie Duke at its Tournament Academy, May 1-2, 2010 and at its Live Hand Analysis Academy May 3, 2010 at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City.

Improve your tournament poker skills at the two-day, comprehensive poker camp and experience featuring world-class instruction by professional poker player and recent 2010 NBC Heads Up Champion Annie Duke, professional poker player and poker personality Bernard Lee, poker pros Shawn Rice and Court Harrington and acclaimed poker tells expert Joe Navarro. Players then have the opportunity to build on and enhance their poker skills with a hands on, highly personalized day of poker training with Annie Duke and Shawn Rice.

“Over the past few years the WSOP Academy has held events twice a year in Atlantic City, and now we’re excited to bring Annie Duke to Atlantic City as part of the Academy. Annie Duke brings her “A” game both when she plays poker and while she teaches poker. Her teaching style and dynamic personality promise to offer a completely different Academy experience" said Brandon Rosen of the WSOP Academy.

“From live hand demonstrations with Annie Duke, Bernard Lee and Shawn Rice to our groundbreaking seminar with poker tells expert Joe Navarro, our event at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City will give players the confidence and skills they need to be a threat at the table, whether they’re playing in a home game with friends or at the World Series of Poker against the best in the game.”

During the upcoming two day Tournament Academy, instructors will lead participants through two days of intensive seminars with questions and answers, video analysis of WSOP tournament footage, live hand demonstrations and a private multi-table tournament. Designed for players of all levels of experience, the event’s curriculum will focus on all aspects of No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em tournament strategy, including playing position, calculating pot odds, post-flop strategy, concealing tells, identifying types of players, the importance of aggression and changing gears.

In addition to poker training by top pros participants will learn from acclaimed poker tells expert Joe Navarro. After 25 years with the FBI working in the areas of counterintelligence and counterterrorism, Navarro has become one of the foremost authorities on reading the nonverbal communications that people exhibit when they are lying. Applying his expertise to poker, Joe has revolutionized the science of detecting and interpreting tells and is eager to share his knowledge with WSOP Academy participants.

“I look forward to working with WSOP Academy attendees to help them see inside their opponents and change the way they view the game,” said Navarro. “I plan on spending time working with players individually and spotting tells that they are giving off at the table. I truly believe that this type of personalized attention can save a player a lot of money in the long run.”

Beyond just delivering the best in poker instruction, the WSOP Academy events also offer a total-immersion poker experience that gives participants the opportunity to socialize and play poker with many of the biggest names in the game and compete in a private multi-table poker tournament. The winner of the private tournament will go on to compete for a $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event seat at the 2010 WSOP Academy Tournament of Champions.

The WSOP Academy at Harrah's Resort is one of a number of groundbreaking instructional programs presented by the WSOP Academy throughout the year that feature instruction from the best players in the game, including Phil Hellmuth, Mark Seif, Phil Gordon, Greg Raymer, and Annie Duke. From sessions that focus on No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em to special editions like the Main Event Primer, November Nine Academy, Mind & Body Academy and Cash Game Academy, the WSOP Academy offers poker players of all skill levels the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn directly from the champions of the game and become champions themselves.
