Global Electronics Recovery Appointed Exclusive USA Agent for e-Waste Processor Cimelia

Global Electronics Recovery, Inc., has signed a contract to be the exclusive United States agent for Cimelia Resource Recovery Pte Ltd (‘Cimelia’), of Singapore, a certified electronic waste recycler and refiner of precious metals.

Global Electronics Recovery Appointed Exclusive USA Agent for e-Waste Processor Cimelia
Milpitas, CA, December 09, 2006 --(PR.com)-- GER began in 1998 and is the third enterprise founded by David Smith to provide e-waste recycling and asset recovery services to corporations and organizations around the world. In 2005, GER began negotiating with Cimelia to obtain the exclusive responsibility for the US and has just concluded the transaction. In October, GER was re-incorporated as a Delaware C Corporation and moved to a new facility in Milpitas, CA. An aggressive plan for expansion was launched, which includes plans for both organic growth and acquisitions of complementary companies. Also in October, the executive team was expanded with the addition of Martin Nielson as President, Gary Powers as VP of Operations, Chuck Whatmore as VP of Business Development, and Robert Paise as Account Manager while David Smith retained the role of Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing. This management team has nearly 120 years of combined experience in growing international companies in electronics and distribution industries.

Cimelia, with a 200,000 sq ft operation, is recognized as the biggest E-Waste management and recycling facility in Singapore. Their recycling capacity is estimated to be about 25,000 Metric Tons per year; is certified by Singapore’s equivalent of the US’ Environmental Protection Agency; and has ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification. The core business, which has also been approved by leading electronics manufacturers such as Dell, Seagate, Solectron, Canon, Philips, Sony Ericsson, etc., includes total E-Waste management and recycling, Platinum Group Metals (PGM) recovery and refining, base metals recycling, and the manufacturing of PGM by-products and base metal alloys. They have more than a decade of experience in providing these e-waste services and their objective is to become the leading provider of e-Waste Management and Recycling services to clients worldwide. Among the key elements of its corporate mission is a commitment to providing total e-Waste management through the use of cost-effective, innovative, and pollution-free technology. And, they intend to do so while protecting the environment and preserving natural resources.

Commenting on how GER is expected to contribute to Cimelia’s growth strategy, Mr. Ansari, Cimelia’s Director for Business Development said: "Besides the advantage of having the assistance of GER in the United States to manage our existing Multi-National Customer accounts, we believe that the GER management team has the right mix of experience in the industry combined with the ability to implement an aggressive growth strategy, including the acquisition of complementary companies. This fits our needs and we are therefore very optimistic about the growth that we can achieve together.”

David Smith, founder of GER, who has spent his entire career in the electronics recycling industry commented on Cimelia’s position in the market place and its benefit to GER, “Cimelia has built a spotlessly clean, pollution-free model for processing electronic waste that is both responsible and cost-effective. Their plant uses very innovative technology, and we are convinced that they will remain at the forefront of deploying the best possible technology in the processing of e-waste. And we both share the same commitment to a zero-landfill policy.”

Martin Nielson, President of GER, who has 30 years of experience in building companies through acquisition and organic means, added, “We are very excited about this relationship. Very shortly, we expect to put forth our plans for a new pre-processing plant in Silicon Valley and to complete a series of acquisitions to deepen our penetration into both the US and international markets. We are impressed with Cimelia’s processing capacity and their own appetite for global growth, and our new relationship is expected to significantly complement each company’s growth plans.”

Cimelia recently announced that it had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Singapore main board listed Enviro-Hub Holdings Ltd (“Enviro-Hub” ), a leading total environmental management solutions group serving the global electronics, electrical and equipment industries for the latter to acquire the remaining 36.3% of Cimelia that it did not already own. The acquisition will enable the group to consolidate and integrate all its electronic recycling businesses to achieve operational synergies and greater economies of scale.
