Carroll Community College and Unimarket Announced Today the Implementation of Unimarket’s SaaS Collaborative eProcurement Solution to Improve Procure-to-Pay Efficiencies

Annapolis, MD, July 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Today, Carroll Community College – one of Maryland’s 16 community colleges -- and Unimarket, the global leader of collaborative eProcurement solutions, is excited to announce the signing of an agreement to implement the full suite of procure-to-pay functionality throughout the College. Carroll is eager to join the other Maryland and Washington DC Institutions and organizations already utilizing Unimarket’s technology, including Anne Arundel Community College and Harford Community College. This will allow Carroll to electronically collaborate on purchases with their counterpart institutions through eProcurement. In 2008/2009, credit and non-credit headcount combined was 13,533 students at Carroll Community College.

Dr. John Cox, Harford Community College’s Chief Financial Officer, remarked on the announcement. “We’re pleased to see another Maryland community college joining the community of higher education buyers in Maryland through Unimarket. We know they will achieve real savings and look forward to collaborating with them.”

Like most community colleges in Maryland, Carroll is experiencing a growth in enrollments as more students are looking for economical education options and others are returning to school to upgrade their skills in a tight labor market. Still, the recent downturns in the economy resulting in state-wide budget cuts have required the College to track every dollar carefully to ensure its academic programs remain top rate. Carroll realized that directly connecting internal business processes to those of their suppliers and other institutions was the key to real savings, along with improving service to the campus community through the reduction in paperwork.

”There is no doubt,” said Timothy League, the College’s Director of Fiscal Affairs, “ that Unimarket’s eProcurement solution will drive tremendous efficiencies on campus as we move from a paper-based process into a networked system. However, key for me is to move to this advanced way of conducting our operations with the prospect of real cost savings; savings we can redirect towards our academic mission.”

“Unimarket’s collaborative eProcurement focus is a giant leap above just core eProcurement” says Stanley Behnken (C.P.M.), Carroll’s Purchasing Manager. “We see Carroll being able to combine our purchases on needed supplies and equipment with other institutions in Maryland and other regions that have a common need as well. We all hope to enjoy better unit costs for the necessary goods and services we require at the college if we want to continue to provide a high quality campus experience for our student body.”

Scott Blackwood, CEO of Unimarket, remarked on the key to achieving rapid ROI. “Our successful customers are those who have the right people, process and technology, it really takes all three equally to achieve success with procurement automation and related ROI.” said Blackwood. Blackwood also commented on Stan Behnken being the first purchasing professional to contract with Unimarket at a second institution. “Stan had already implemented Unimarket’s collaborative eProcurement solution with Datatel at Anne Arundel Community College and experienced first-hand the rapid benefits for college operations. We are pleased that his previous success will carry over to another fine Maryland community college and honored that Stan will again be one of our customers.”
