Celebrity Judges Named for Diamond State BBQ Championship Aug. 21

Dover, DE, July 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Emmy Award winner Brian Gurry, host of the popular “American Builder” reality-based home improvement show on Comcast Sportsnet, and Tony Luke of Tony Luke’s Old Philly Style Sandwiches will appear as a celebrity judges for the Fifth Annual Diamond State BBQ Championship on Saturday, August 21 at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. Gurry and Luke will sit in as honorary taste judges and sample scores of BBQ beef, pork and chicken entries submitted by the participating teams. The Championship, to be held inside the famous Monster Mile®, is an officially sanctioned event on the Kansas City Barbecue Society circuit.

Gurry will film the “American Builder” YouTool segment during the event, which features the host in entertaining, man-on-the-street interviews. YouTool segments often feature Gurry presenting an obscure tool or construction-related object, which he asks random people to try and identify. The answers usually lead to wild and weird guesses, providing hilarious fodder for the show.

The Tony Luke’s restaurant franchise, with locations in South Philadelphia, Pa., and Atlantic City, N.J., has evolved to a take-home product line called Tony Luke’s Pronto. Tony Luke and his restaurants have earned numerous awards and recognition from local and national publications, as well as being featured in episodes of “Throwdown! With Bobby Flay,” “Dinner: Impossible,” “Food Feuds,” “Food Wars” and “Man v. Food.” Luke has appeared in several feature films, including his most recent in The Nail: The Story of Joey Nardone (2009), which he also produced, and has worked with Dennis Hopper, Giovanni Ribisi, and his mentor, Leo Rossi.
