First of Its Kind Culinary Club Opens in Putnam and Westchester

For the growing number of people who watch cooking shows and enjoy learning new dishes from exciting local chefs, there is a first of its kind culinary club in Putnam and Westchester Counties in New York. The club partners with chefs to offer hands on cooking classes and cooking demonstrations in local restaurants offering private event invitations to its members.

Mahopac, NY, August 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Two Mahopac women have started a new venture partnering with local chefs, restaurant owners and others in the food industry. The business, designed as a club, offers members private invitations to everything from cooking classes with local chefs in their restaurants, to wine and food pairings, to organic farm tours. Members are able to cook, taste or just eat great meals while getting a behind the scenes peak at the region's exciting food scene. The club, called Culinary Collaboration, is the area’s first of its kind in offering private classes and demonstrations in many different restaurants.

"With the popularity of cooking shows, the interest in local classes has grown," said Patrice Costa, president of Culinary Collaboration. "Today, when you sign up for a class you are tied to one restaurant or chef. With our club, you have the opportunity to learn from many different chefs and only pay for the classes or cuisines that interest you."

Currently there is no fee to join the club and members pay for the events when they register. At each hands-on cooking class or demonstration, members get to meet with local chefs or owners who share their personal recipes and secret tips for preparing basic or advanced meals. Members get a behind the scenes peek at the inner workings of the restaurants and get to experience the chef’s creative cooking. Each class has a limited number of participants, providing an intimate atmosphere. Culinary Collaboration has already finalized agreements with five restaurants and one local farm with several more in the works.

"All the restaurants and chefs we’ve reached out to are excited. Many have considered hosting classes before but are too busy just running their kitchens. By partnering with us, they only need to think about the menu, we do all the rest," said Costa. She added that the club, which launched in June, already has over 100 members and has great ideas for new classes including a bakery class and a grilling class.

Culinary Collaboration offers unique culinary experiences with chefs, restaurants, wineries, farms and markets in Westchester and Putnam counties. For more information or to join, visit www.culinarycollaboration.com.
