Finalists and Individual Winners Announced for Arizona Technology Council’s 2010 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation

Steve Sanghi, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, Microchip to receive “OneNeck IT Services’ People’s Choice Lifetime Achievement Award”

Phoenix, AZ, September 01, 2010 --(PR.com)-- From a field of top-tier candidates showcasing advancements in Arizona’s technology sector, the Arizona Technology Council, in partnership with the Arizona Department of Commerce, today announced Individual Award winners and Company Award finalists for the 2010 Governor’s Celebration of Innovation (GCOI) awards. Winners will receive Arizona’s highest honor for technology innovation on November 18, 2010 in the heart of downtown Phoenix at the Phoenix Convention Center, 100 North Third Street, in the South Building Ballroom from 3:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The evening will include the presentation of the “OneNeck IT Services People’s Choice Lifetime Achievement Award” to Steve Sanghi, president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board, Microchip Technology Inc. The award honors an individual who has greatly impacted the technology industry here in Arizona. Mr. Sanghi will be recognized for his more than 20 years of technological and fiscal vision through both good times as well as challenging periods. His inspirational leadership transformed Microchip into a multi-billion world-class enterprise.

In May 2007, Mr. Sanghi was appointed to the Board of Directors of FIRST Organization, a not-for-profit public charity founded in 1989 to develop young people's interest in science and technology. Mr. Sanghi was instrumental in bringing a FIRST Robotics Competition Regional event to Arizona. His commitment to education also led him to establish the Steve Sanghi Scholarship for Science and Technology Education.

This year’s event, with the theme of “Arizona in Motion,” features the return of the Technology Showcase with over 50 booths, providing an opportunity for award finalists and sponsors to discuss and demonstrate their exceptional products and services to the over one thousand attendees. The night of networking, food, and entertainment includes a theatre-style awards ceremony followed by a strolling dinner and a VIP after-party. A limited number of reserved sit-down tables with plated dinners are available for sponsors and for purchase.

The winners and finalists were selected by a committee independent of the Council and chaired by Brian Blaney, Greenberg Traurig.
