Paul R. Martel, President of YHB Investment Advisors Recognized as Honoree at Community Leadership Awards Hosted by Invest in Others Charitable Foundation & Investnews

West Hartford, CT, September 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Paul R. Martel Receives $15,000 for Clinica Dulce Refugio in Ecuador

Paul R. Martel of YHB Investment Advisors, Inc. in West Hartford, CT was recognized as the honoree of the Community Leadership Award for Global Community Impact for his work with his children’s clinic, Clinica Dulce Refugio, at the fourth annual Community Leadership Awards held September 14, 2010 in New York City. The event, hosted by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation and InvestmentNews, the leading newspaper for financial advisors, recognized financial advisors from across the country for their leadership and commitment to making a positive difference in their communities. As an honoree, Martel was awarded $15,000 to benefit his clinic.

In 2007, after organizing 12 medical missions to South and Central America, Paul founded his own clinic in Riobamba, Ecuador. The clinic delivers free medical and dental care to the needy children of Chimborazo Province, an area of widespread poverty and lack of access to care. Since its founding, the clinic has treated over 6,000 children and has organized 7 caravans to remote areas of the province. The $15,000 award will make possible a new operating room and a delivery room.

Paul said, “It is truly an honor to be recognized with this award. This is a dream come true for our clinic and will benefit many thousands of children who otherwise would have no hope for care.”

“Each day, financial advisors like Paul touch the lives of so many people both through their professional and charitable activities. In the process, they leave a lasting and positive impact on their communities,” said Kandis Bates, President of the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation. “It is an honor to recognize Paul whose hard work, generosity and unswerving commitment to his clinic has so greatly enriched the lives of others.”

“After reviewing hundreds of nominations of financial advisors who routinely give generously of their time, talents, and resources, selecting a handful of finalists proved to be quite difficult,” said Suzanne Siracuse, VP/Publisher of InvestmentNews and a member of the board of directors of the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation. “Our judges were once again inspired and humbled by the positive impact financial advisors make each and every day in their communities. This year’s honorees truly represent what is best about the financial services industry.”

The event’s keynote speakers Sean and Leigh Ann Tuohy (the couple who inspired the best selling book and major motion picture The Blind Side), spoke about their philosophy of giving and thanked the advisors for their commitment to improving their communities.

The Community Leadership Awards accepted hundreds of nominations of financial advisors from over 85 different broker/dealers and custodians for their roles as leaders and active volunteers in community organizations. The organizations benefiting from the involvement of dedicated financial advisors represent a broad range of important humanitarian causes, including education, housing, medical research, after-school programs, violence prevention and many more.
