IVPA Member, Child Family Health International (CFHI) Convenes Forum on the Empowerment of Women

New York, NY, September 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- International Volunteer Programs Association (IVPA) member, Child Family Health International (CFHI) recently convened a forum at the United Nations on the Empowerment of Women.

Held in New York City on September 15th, the forum focused on the need for greater investment in women and girls to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women worldwide as well as the role empowerment plays in reaching the Millennium Development Goals. The event coincided with the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The forum featured Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury former Under-Secretary General and High Representative of the UN (OHRLLS) as a moderator and Jessica Evert, MD, Medical Director, Child Family Health International, Monika Mitchell, Good Business International, and Hema Pandey, India Coordinator, Child Family Health International.

The panel of women spoke of their own experiences as women and the challenges they’ve faced as well as the progress they’ve made. There was also a participant dialogue centered on strategies for success and ways to support women around the world.

The forum was a great success and CFHI has been asked to return and continue to support women’s empowerment and other important issues.
