Rinox Products Provide Stability to Homeowners' Foundation While Boosting Curb Appeal
Douglassville, PA, November 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- This project came about because of a deteriorating railroad tie wall. Not having knowledge of construction, the homeowners were worried about their home’s structure. With a failing timber wall, they decided to call in Rob Boltz from Around the Ground for a professional evaluation and recommendation. Upon inspection of the timbers, Rob determined that the timber wall’s life expectancy of 15-20 years had been reached and the wall could no longer be repaired and needed to be totally replaced. Rob gave the homeowners the option of replacing the wall with either timber wall or concrete retaining wall.

To be replaced accurately, a survey and proper engineering had to be completed due to the height of the wall. Anything over four (4) feet in height required engineering in this area. Access was tough with the steep slope conditions and a great deal of care had to be taken when moving materials up and down the slope, which took additional time. Around the Ground also had to find a suitable disposal site for the discarded Creosote treated railroad ties and transport them via truck, which added time and cost to the project.

Taking their options into consideration, the homeowners chose the latter and selected the Rinox Rio wall series for the natural stone look and color selection, which blended in nicely with the surrounding landscape. Around the Ground shot grades, provided a survey and ordered an engineer to develop drawings for the project. Ultimately, all three (3) available sizes were mixed into the project, Rio 90, Rio 135, and Rio 180 to provide for an even more natural appearance. The integrated vertical jumper units were utilized to assist in stepping up the top of the wall with the grade.

The homeowners were pleased with the outcome of their project. They continue to boast about the upgraded look that the wall gives to their home and enjoy admiring it from afar when driving down their cul-de-sac. “We really have peace of mind and don’t have to worry about the house foundation, like we did with the old wooden wall.”
