BiKal High End Video Network Access Storage Implementation
Bikal IP CCTV implements its BlackWatch storage server to enable a telecom operator to provide managed services for its residential and commercial customers.
Oranjestad, Aruba, January 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Bikal IP CCTV Ltd has supplied Setar N.V. of Aruba a BlackWatch Storage server which forms part of the Bikal server range. The server has 80 TB of storage with redundant power supplies and cooling hard drives. This will be primarily used to manage 320 cameras located at the head quarters of Setar N.V.
Bikal IP CCTV Ltd conducted a site survey of the data center in Setar N.V. in addition to an assessment of their ability to manage the additional video storage server. Alongside the feasibility study was a commercial discussion, during which, Setar N.V. agreed to leverage their fibre optic network to generate additional services. The excellent bandwidth possible with fibre optic has presented this opportunity to create the additional managed services.
Storage server sales have increased 23% from 2009, as a percentage of servers built by Bikal IP CCTV Ltd. The saying “you can never have enough storage” is an understatement when used in relation to video images. An average video is four times the size of voice data and thus the transmission and storage require considerable investment. The increase in server sales proves that telecom operators are willing to make this investment and therefore, Bikal has assisted in the development and increased production of the hardware to manage this service.
Customer usability is also incredibly important. For instance, the software and the web access to images will be a key service element for both domestic and commercial customers. Bikal IP CCTV Ltd will be working with the operators to provide this web based solution for the end customer.
