"Hope for Haiti" Honored by Kelly Capolino with Diamond Volunteer Award

Hope for Haiti thanked 25 dedicated volunteers at the Diamond Volunteer Award reception held in their honor on January 20, 2011.

Naples, FL, February 13, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Hope for Haiti, a local non-profit organization, was recently honored by the Diamond Volunteer Program. A reception was held to honor Hope for Haiti volunteers on January 20th at The Residences at Pelican Isle Yacht Club. This was the first in a series of three receptions that will be held this winter to honor local non-profits and their volunteers for the valuable work they do in the community.

Cathy Grassi, Hope for Haiti Operations Director and Tiffany Kuehner, Vice President accepted the Diamond Volunteer Award presented by Kelly E. Capolino, local real estate professional and founder of the program. The award honored and recognized well deserving volunteers for their work in Haiti especially for their immediate action and unyielding support to save Haitian lives immediately following the devastating earthquake last January.

“This is an honor for our volunteers, particularly this year. Hope for Haiti was one of the first organizations to land in Haiti and distribute emergency aid directly to hospitals and displaced people’s camps throughout Port-au-Prince and the south. None of this could have been completed without the incredible outpouring of love, strength, perseverance, and generosity of our volunteers here in Naples,” Grassi said. “We applied for this award because we wanted to honor all our volunteers for their efforts -- they went above and beyond -- especially Martha Cole, John Farren, Jerry Wallace, Valerie and Clair Flinn, Francesca Copeland, Ann Murray, Marcie Nguyen, Pat McGloin, Heather Lerner, Nancy Burke, Toni Smith, Margot and Fred Adams, Paul Durette, Ray Stone, Matt Jepsen, Lauralee and Richard Uihlein, and Dr. Steve Shukan and Candi Thompson, RN who not only volunteered after the earthquake, in the first medical mission, but also organized the successful 2010 Hope for Haiti annual Gala.”

The Diamond Volunteer reception was held for 25 Hope for Haiti volunteers in the ninth floor property of Jack and Connie Kindsvater located at The Residences at Pelican Isle Yacht Club. “It was wonderful to meet this organization and hear about their work in Haiti. My wife and I were very impressed. We plan to open our home to future Diamond Volunteer Award winners,” Mr. Kindsvater said.

“This is an organization with such an important mission. Their volunteers have helped save the lives of so many in Haiti and have given countless hours to give others HOPE. I am in awe of them all…. I was so proud to present this award to them,” said Kelly Capolino. “The volunteers were all so passionate about the work they do, it was truly inspiring.”

Capolino added, “The Diamond Volunteer Program has three components. The first is the Diamond Volunteer Award, the second is the educational seminars that we organize for non-profits during the summer, and the third part of the program is the Diamond Volunteer Rewards. The Reward Program is just another way for non-profits to generate extra donations. I have pledged of 15% of my real estate commission to any non-profit organization that mentions the Diamond Volunteer program when buying or selling a property. It’s pretty simple, a client just needs to mention what non-profit they would like to donate to, we have several organizations that have taken advantage of this program this past year. This is just one more way the organization can do fundraising.”
