Garabedian shared her personal story of conquering abuse with Donna Marie Thompson, PhD and relayed the message of hope to women in difficult relationships. Garabedian overcame the odds and is now living a dream life.

Washington, DC, February 27, 2011 --(PR.com)-- As Donna Marie Thompson's special guest on the Bouncing Back Now show on the Real Coaching Radio TV Network, Ms. Tina Garabedian -- author, mother and advisor shared her inspiring story of survival. Garabedian stressed that it is important to learn life's lessons - regardless of age.

Garabedian disclosed: "I was not taught the tools to navigate life in my formative years – so I was forced to learn them on my own throughout my life. I found my own way. Sure, I made mistakes. But the good news is that I have not only survived, but I have thrived."

Garabedian shared her message of hope to women who are stuck in difficult or abusive relationships who feel overwhelmed and powerless. Garabedian relayed her story: "I somehow mustered the courage to leave an abusive spouse – with a special needs child in tow. I knew that I had to take care of myself and my child. Yes, it took courage, and yes it was difficult. But somehow I managed to do it for the sake of my daughter. When my husband refused to leave, then I decided to leave. It was the major turning point in my life."

Garabedian advised: "One essential ingredient to evaluating your options is to build the requisite self-esteem to realize that your needs are important and deserve to be met. So no matter your situation, you don’t have to be relegated to being a second-class citizen in your relationship just to keep someone else happy while you are dying from the inside out. Like many others before me, I thought that staying was the best course of action for us, but it was not."

Garabedian commented that: "Many of us are not cognizant of our own needs – we keep bending to meet the needs of others. And if we bend too far, we will surely break. The subordination of your own needs to meet the needs and demands of others is unsustainable in the long run. In one way or another, it will come to an end; someone will be left to pick up the pieces."

Dr. Thompson added that: "Relationships need to be in balance. The balance can shift over time but each person’s needs are important if the couple is have to chance at a healthy relationship."

Garabedian is now in the process of completing an autobiography relating her trials and tribulations and her ultimate victory over abuse and victimhood. She lives happily with her husband -- the man of her dreams -- and her daughter. That is a true bouncing back story to celebrate.
