Houston, TX, February 26, 2007 --(
PR.com)-- When Mickey Bryant, CEO of thefamilybusinessonline.com, took the podium at the "Live Your Dream" workshop on January 25, 2007 at 6:30 p.m., offered by SCORE, she had a story and a message for everyone in the audience. A newly minted entrepreneur and client for the organization herself, she spent 20 minutes teaching the group of aspiring business owners that even the smallest business among them can utilize the internet to become successful.
"My dream is to be a successful business owner providing a vital service with a viable future. I enjoy computers and I want to help people who have had the door slammed in their face repeatedly," Bryant said. "Today, having a position on the internet is vital to business and even the smallest business can afford that presence with my service."
"Like it or not, you have to learn computers and internet today," agreed Raj. "We want to show everyone that they can very cheaply build a website. We want to provide appropriate and affordable solutions so that our clients can be successful. We are very proud of the "Live Your Dream" program which is unique for SCORE. We believe that we are making a real difference in people's lives and we want to reach as many people as possible."
Over 700 aspiring entrepreneurs have attended these workshops since the program began in January 2006. The 90 minute events are offered at the city's multi-service centers, and are designed to encourage business ownership in poor communities.
Responses to the program were enthusiastic due to the support and publicity received from City Council members Adrian Garcia, Carol Alvarado, Ada Edwards and Jarvis Johnson. TV coverage from Univision TV and Newspaper coverage by the Houston Chronicle were also fundamental in drawing people to the meetings.
Now, in the second year of the "Live Your Dream" workshop, SCORE is strengthening its meetings with solutions and success stories so that clients will learn creative answers for the problems they face and see people in similar situations triumph.
