Arab Non-Violence Society Commemorated Nelson Mandela International Day

External Relations Advisor for the Arab Non-Violence Society and Arab Youth Media Forum Dr. Naseer Homoud’s message on Nelson Mandela International Day. He lauded the efforts and contribution of Mr. Mandela in accomplishing democracy and tranquility.

Doha, Qatar, July 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Observing Nelson Mandela International Day Dr. Naseer Homoud, Honorary Member and External Relations Advisor of Arab Non-Violence Society and Arab Youth Media Forum congratulated Nelson Mandela on his 93rd birthday and urged that this day is a call to action for people everywhere to take responsibility for making the world a better place, one small step at a time, just following the path of Nelson Mandela. “I urge for action in everyone who is a keen believer in Mandela’s ideals to emulate him and go beyond the 18th of July by continuing to work towards the betterment of the people of world over, particularly the underprivileged,” said Dr. Homoud.

Dr. Homoud maintained that Mandela became the epitome of striving for human dignity and prosperity. He dedicated his life to ensuring that not just South Africa, but the world, becomes a place in which every human-being can make a significant contribution. He urged everyone to follow the principles on which Mr. Mandela based his life. This year’s theme of the Nelson Mandela Day is: Working Together to Build a Caring Society. “It highlights that in the pursuit of freedom, President Mandela strived for a society that is tolerant and lives in harmony,” said Dr. Homoud.

In his message Dr. Homoud said “I think, to make this world peaceful, avoiding war, fighting poverty and hunger, creating employment of the unemployed, growing patriotism among the citizens of a country, establishing brotherhood, gender equality, equity, fraternity, political stability, good governance, rule of law, accountability of the government to the people, democracy, democratic government, transparency, removing corruption, ensuring human rights of all, development and livable environment irrespective of race and religion, we must take lessons from the life and ideology of Nelson Mandela.”
