Local Michigan Racer Pursuing His Dream in NASCAR

Muskegon, MI, October 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The dreams of running in one of Nascar’s Elite Series looks to be just around the corner for Andrew Conklin of Muskegon, MI. Andrew Conklin is a 26 year old local racecar driver at the tracks of Berlin Raceway and Kalamazoo Speedway. Andrew also has race go-karts and stockcars on many dirt tracks in Michigan. On September 12th, 2011, Andrew made the twelve hour, 815 mile trip from Muskegon, MI to Newton, N.C., the hometown of Hickory Motor Speedway. This is where Andrew would get the opportunity to test for Chris Lafferty of Lafferty Motorsports. Lafferty Motorsports, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team, is based out of Concord, N.C. and fields racecars in the NASCAR Truck Series as well as ARCA series. The test would be performed over two days. Day one would consist of on track driving. Day two will be a meeting about marketing and sponsorships, along with the discussion of the future for Andrew Conklin and Lafferty Motorsports to work together.

“As I walked across the high banked track and headed towards the Arca Race car I was about to drive, my excitement and nerves were through the roof!” said, Andrew Conklin

The first step was for Andrew to get familiar with the car by getting inside and getting comfortable with the Arca car that he soon would be driving. Then Chris explained to Andrew all of the critical points on the racetrack, and Andrew was informed of the expectations and goals that Chris and his Team had in mind for the day. Now it was time for Andrew to get buckled up and turn some laps around the famous Hickory Motor Speedway.

“As I pulled the belts tight and fired the engine, it felt like my heart was going to pound out of my chest! Then as I put the Lafferty Motorsports Arca car into gear and onto the track, everything went calm and I did the job that needed to be done.” Said, Andrew Conklin

The driving portion of the test consisted of 80 laps around the track with stops after every 20 laps to allow Chris to sit down with Andrew to discuss and analyze things that happened on the track. During the test Chris and his team were looking for consistency, racing knowledge and the ability to listen and relay information. At the end of the day Chris said he was extremely impressed not only with Andrew’s driving ability but also with his attitude, knowledge and ability to listen on and off the track.

On day two Andrew had a meeting with Chris and the Lafferty Motorsports Marketing Director. This is where they would discuss Andrew’s future with Lafferty Motorsports along with the steps to obtain sponsorship for the highest levels of racing. Chris stated that he was very pleased and impressed with the results of the previous days testing. He also believes Andrew has the Personality, Marketability, and Determination to make it in the NASCAR ranks. At the conclusion of the meeting Chris Lafferty offered Andrew Conklin the opportunity to join the Lafferty Motorsports Team in the Nascar Camping World Truck Series. Andrew may make his Truck series debut by the end of October if the funding is available.

"This has been a dream of mine since I started racing at the age of 12. And I want to thank Chris for the opportunity to race for Lafferty Motorsports," stated Andrew Conklin.

Now Andrew needs to secure sponsorship money to be able to fulfill his dream and compete in the Nascar Camping World Truck Series. To inquire about the great sponsorship and marketing opportunity’s with Andrew Conklin and Lafferty Motorsports please contact:
