Greenpacket’s WiMAX Pocket Modem Makes E-Learning a Reality

Greenpacket was awarded the supply of its WiMAX Pocket Modem MF250 to schools in California, USA, as part of the California-state’s Digital Textbook Initiative (DTI).

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, November 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions, was awarded the supply of its WiMAX Pocket Modem MF250 to schools in California, USA, as part of the California-state’s Digital Textbook Initiative (DTI). The first batch of the MF250 will benefit students, teachers and parents in Kings County School Districts (KCSD) to experience learning on-the-go.

The DTI aims to equip every student with access to world-class education; where students, teachers and parents engage in learning through interactive and real-time applications. In place of the traditional textbooks is an extensive library of digital information and the internet, such as digital textbooks, interactive applications and educational tools. The students of KCSD were given the privilege to be the first school in the nation to experience e-learning.

Since the introduction of the program, there has been a notable increase in areas of communication between teachers, students and parents, student attendance has improved a staggering 95% together with improvement in student discipline. But most importantly, there is a 11% improvement in overall student test scores. These are attributable to students being more engaged with learning than before by virtually extending the school hours throughout the day.

Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager of Greenpacket said “This has been the most visible project of its kind in California and we are happy to be part of it. The partnership with Digitel Corporation has allowed the MF250 pocket modem to be incorporated as a complete solution, bringing together the WiMAX wireless access network and digital smart tablets where each student can experience e-learning on campus. The MF250 Pocket Modem also facilitates the creation of hotspots allowing students to share wireless data connectivity with friends and family around the clock, anytime and anywhere.”

The success of this collaboration has been tremendous. School systems around the state are taking an interest in this new technology and it is expected to expand across the country within their WiMAX footprints as part of their own initiative that meets the state guidelines.

“WiMAX is well suited for delivering cost-effective backhaul, we are seeing WiMAX in many verticals; schools, smart metering and the possibility is endless in enriching life. With learning being an essential part of our children’s development, we can expect huge leaps in the advancement of education for all ages. With early exposure to the Internet, the MF250 security is important; so are others essential features of speed, reliability and portability making it a perfect fit for education, fun learning, interaction and importantly instantaneous,” added Lee.

Greenpacket is the world’s third largest supplier of WiMAX CPEs. Greenpacket’s comprehensive portfolio of award-winning WiMAX offerings and product expansion is part of its continues effort to create new opportunities for operators and enrich the mobile broadband connectivity experience of end-consumers as 4G mobile broadband applications and services grow.
