Eight Eisner Winners & Nominees, Including Hall of Famer Stan Lee, to Attend New Orleans Comic Con

Eight prestigious Eisner Award winners and nominees (including Stan Lee, a Hall of Famer) will attend Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, Jan. 28-29. They are among more than 170 top creators attending the show at the Morial Convention Center.

New Orleans, LA, January 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- A total of eight Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards winners and nominees, including Hall of Famer Stan Lee, are among the more than 170 comic creators scheduled to attend Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con, January 28-29 at Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Lee, who co-created Spider-Man, the Hulk, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, and dozens of other classic and world-famous characters, will be joined by Eisner winners George Pérez (“Superman,” “JSA”), Rob Guillory (“Chew”) and John Layman (“Chew,” “Puffed”).

The four Eisner Award nominees scheduled to attend are John Dell (“Ultimate Spider-Man,” “X-Men”), Joe Eisma (“Morning Glories,” “Existence 3.0”), Jesus Merino (“Avengers Forever,” “Superman/Batman”) and Alex Saviuk (“Spider-Man Newspaper Strip,” “The X-Files”).

The creators will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and sketch. Many Greater New Orleans and Louisiana-based artists will be in attendance as well.

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are considered the “Oscars” of the comic book industry. Established in 1987, they are named for renowned cartoonist Will Eisner (creator of “The Spirit” and several award-winning graphic novels).

Other superstar creators scheduled to attend include Tyler Kirkham (“Green Lantern Corps,” “Amazing Spider-Man”), Barry Kitson (“Uncanny X-Force,” “Iron Man”), Greg Horn (“Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark,” “X-Force”), Mike McKone (“Avengers,” “Fantastic Four”), Michael Golden (“Batman,” “Spider-Man”), Clayburn Moore (The CS Moore Studio Ltd.), Norm Breyfogle (“Batman Beyond,” “Life with Archie”), “Zombie King” Arthur Suydam (“Marvel Zombies,” “Army of Darkness”) and Scott Clark (“Batman Inc.,” “Brightest Day”).

New Orleans Comic Con will also feature popular celebrities such as William Shatner, Adam Baldwin, Mary McDonnell, James Marsters and Michael Biehn.

New Orleans Comic Con is the first stop on Wizard World's 2012 North American tour. Hours are Saturday, January 28, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.; and Sunday, January 29, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tickets are available in advance online at http://www.wizardworldcomiccon.com/neworleans.html at a savings over tickets purchased at the door. Advance adult single-day tickets are priced at $30 ($40 on site); weekend all-session tickets are $45 ($55 on site), and tickets are free for children age 10 and under when accompanied by a paid adult (limit two children per adult).
