Linux Kernel 3.x Support for Perle TruePort COM Port Re-director Utility

Perle TruePort 6.5.1 COM Port Re-director utility supports Linux Kernel 3.x

Nashville, TN, April 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Perle Systems, a global provider of advanced serial to Ethernet and secure device networking solutions announced today Linux Kernel 3.x support for its TruePort COM Port re-director utility. TruePort driver 6.5.1 can be downloaded from Perle’s website.

“The TruePort utility from Perle provides true remote serial ports over an Ethernet LAN. It makes remote ports appear as if they are directly connected COM or TTY ports to an application,” comments Julie McDaniel, Vice President Marketing, Perle Systems. She continues, "With the addition of Linux Kernel 3.x support, TruePort offers the most comprehensive set of operating drivers for a COM port re-director utility in the industry.

Perle’s TruePort is a COM port re-director driver utility that is installed on the application server. All COM port directed data sent by the application is re-directed by TruePort across the IP/Ethernet network to remote Perle Terminal Servers or I/O Device Servers which have targeted serial devices connected to them. Data and serial port signalling is transparently communicated between the application and remote device.
