Operation Take Me Home Pet Adoption Event and It's Cool To Be Kind Campaign Kickoff

Homeless animals once again try to find adoptive homes in this annual event. Pet wellness tips, refreshments and entertainment make this a great family outing for all ages.

Sherman Oaks, CA, June 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Walgreens Sherman Oaks is sponsoring this pet adoption event featuring wonderful adoptable animals from numerous rescue organizations and animal shelters and various pet industry experts. A fun day for the entire family. Pets welcome.

Join Friends of Animal Rescue, Operation Blankets of Love and sponsors Walgreens Sherman Oaks as homeless animals and hopeful families find each other. Operation Blankets of Love will be on hand to accept donated bedding and blankets (and any other pet supplies) for distribution to animal welfare groups as they continue to serve the community of public and private shelters as well as so very many programs throughout Southern California. Author Laura Marlowe will be on hand to autograph copies of her wonderful, compassionate book, “Tommy the Throwaway Dog.” Based on actual events, this story is sure to capture the hearts of its readers and serve to educate and inspire our children to be kind to our animal friends. To celebrate the "It's Cool To Be Kind" campaign, young people 16 years or younger are invited to submit drawings that show how we can be cool when we show kindness to animals. Prizes will be awarded in the following age categories: 5 years and under, 6 to 8 years, 9 to 12 years and 13 to 16 years old. They will have materials for day of event artists. Throughout the event they will be showcasing adoptable pets in their "Rescue Rocks The Runway" fashions, which will be available for purchase. Proceeds to support senior giant breed homeless dogs. Other events include "Barks for Books" booth featuring new and almost new books for reading fans. Unleashed and Friends of Animal Rescues will be holding fabulous raffles throughout the event with proceeds to benefit Friends of Animal Rescues’ charitable programs. Those unable to take home a new family member are welcome to stop by to pet a pup and cuddle a kitty and support these life saving efforts by donating to the pet food drive. Or visit the Jamba Juice Bar and try a Jamba Juice smoothie. A portion of the proceeds goes to the animals.
