Joint Test Event Organized to Demonstrate IPv6/IPv4 Dual-Stack Application Performance to Mark the World IPv6 Day

Auspex Technologies Teams with Ixia to Demonstrate Agency IPv6 Transition Architecture at World IPv6 Launch Event
Clifton, VA, July 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Auspex Technologies, the leading provider IPv6, testing and verification solutions for Federal agencies, service providers and network equipment manufacturers, announced the completion of virtualized IPv6 application delivery testing in conjunction with F5 Networks and Ixia today. The testing was demonstrated live at Digital Government Institute’s Government IPv6 Day event, Washington D.C.

Dale Geesey, Chief Operating Officer for Auspex Technologies, provided the keynote presentation at the Digital Government Institute’s Government IPv6 Day event, Washington D.C. The event was held on June 6, 2012 to coincide with World IPv6 Launch where Mr. Geesey briefed agency leaders on approaches to meeting the Office of Management and Budget 2012 IPv6 Milestone.

Auspex and Ixia demonstrated approaches that agencies could use to meet the 2012 milestone. The live demonstration involved showcasing F5’s BIG-IP platform as a virtual device under test (VDUT), Ixia’s IxLoad to control the virtual interfaces (IxVM) running dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6, and virtual application servers (VAS) running FTP, SMTP, and HTTP clients. The significance of this unique virtual test environment was to employ user realism and subjecting the VDUT to real-world conditions without using extensive hardware infrastructure.

The environment created presented a real world virtual setup that was capable of emulating live file transactions, Internet browsing, email exchanges, ecommerce applications, and mobile applications. The demo proved the readiness of testing tools to employ application and network realism, thus simplifying and shortening the evaluation process for Federal and enterprise customers to test application delivery platforms and networks.

The test successfully modeled and verified the dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 performance and transactions between IPv4 and IPv6 addresses by subjecting the VDUT to emulated user workflows, browser emulation, transactional IO – stressing the application tiers, and proving that virtual infrastructure can scale in a dual-stack environment.

Results from the testing confirm that the F5 BIG-IP platform successfully delivers integrated application services. The tests further confirmed Ixia IxLoad’s ability to test virtualized assets and environments while leveraging the trusted Ixia’s traffic generation and analyzing tools for testing hardware-based network equipment.
