Kirby Drake Chairs Dallas Bar Association Annual Education Symposium

Dallas, TX, December 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Kirby Drake, partner at Klemchuk Kubasta LLP (KK LLP), a leading full-service intellectual property (IP) law firm, served as Chair for the 2012 Dallas Bar Association (DBA) Annual Education Symposium on October 29. This event was held at the Belo Mansion in downtown Dallas.

“The DBA is very supportive of the Dallas ISD and has several long-standing programs with the DISD that are focused on improving the lives and education of our children,” said Drake. “These include our Texas High School Mock Trial Program, Law Day, our Summer Law Intern Program, our e-mentoring program, and of course, this Symposium. We want to help make a difference for the students of DISD.”

The DBA Education Symposium is a half-day event focused on the partnership between the DBA and the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). The Symposium offered educational sessions on topics currently affecting the school system including elements for reforming public education, developing transformational school leaders, getting involved and making an impact, as well as a student panel on what kids want/need. Senator Royce West provided the luncheon keynote address discussing issues related to school finance, and the DBA presented the Jack Lowe, Sr. Award for Community Leadership to Vickery Meadow Learning Center.

“It was an honor to chair the Education Symposium. Through the Symposium, we try to start and continue a discussion about how everyone from business leaders to local politicians, educators at every level, our religious community, our parents --- really every person in our community -- should be committed to making sure that public education for all children is the very best it can be. We had a great turnout this year with fantastic speakers, and I look forward to the continued success of this Symposium.”

Drake, an attorney who focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution, including trade secret, patent, trademark, confidential information and breach of contract matters, is very active within the DBA, specifically in their ongoing efforts with the Dallas ISD. Drake has served as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Law in the Schools and Law Day Committees and she current serves as Co-Chair of the Summer Law Intern Program. In addition to overseeing these committees, Drake regularly participates in the DBA Lawyers in the Classroom program, where attorneys and other legal personnel go into schools to speak to students on a variety of topics, and she also is involved in the E-Mentoring Program with DISD high school students.
