Visual Effects Artist Jim Hillin Premieres His New Book of Comics on the Humorous Work-A-Day World of Digital Filmmaking at the 2007 Comic-Con

Los Angeles, CA, July 25, 2007 --(PR.com)-- So, you say you like visual effects -- the explosions, the impossible stunts, the flying super heroes and you love digital filmmaking, but two hours after the movie, you're hungry again!? Fear no more. Impress your friends. Be a "hit" at parties. (Although, it's likely those will be LAN parties, my geeky friend). Jim Hillin's Wireheads: Basking in the Glow takes the reader behind the scenes, below the line, giving the reader a peek under the lame' skirts of Hollywood at a humorous take on the personalities creating the reality of unreality.

Wireheads: Basking in the Glow tells the story of a visual effects shop in South Santa Monica, California called RAD VFX. Situated in a district of warehouses in dark rooms with glowing computer monitors, the central characters do their best to answer the unreasonable desires of clients and work with each other in the makeshift wooden cubicle world. Each page of Wireheads: Basking in the Glow contains comics from Hillin's on-line webcomic as well as his thoughts on the visual effects life.

Jim Hillin wrote Wireheads: Basking in the Glow originally out of a deep desire to lampoon the reality of his day-in, day-out film production life and the humor that appears there when things look darkest. "It's amazing to watch the sudden comical remark or tender gesture that grows out of intense adversity. I marvel at the digital artists around me, not for their amazing scientific and technical know-how, but for their wit and generosity."

Wireheads: Basking in the Glow is available for purchase at the online publisher, www.lulu.com.

From the Foreword by Karen Ellis,"You've never heard of them and probably won't recognize any of their names when they show up on the next movie you see. And you won't recognise their work in that TV commerical with the spoons because if you notice what they are doing, they're not doing it right. Their job is to lie about reality so well that you won't even notice that what you are looking at is impossible."

Jim will be at table EE-03 on Artist's Alley at the 2007 Comic-Con in San Diego, CA., July 26th through 29th, signing his book and original artwork.
